A treasurer is like the accountant for the group. He (or she) keeps track of assets and expenditures and then reports this information at the meeting or makes it available in a report. Depending on the group, there may or may not be any requirements.

Treasurer hides the ill gotten bounty…oh wait thats a pirate. I mean Treasurer looks after the finances and makes sure returns are in on time etc…I would rather be a pirate!

A treasurer budgets the money the organization has in its account. They also usually write the checks to pay for things because not all committee members may have the authority to do this.
