What is the purpose for indicators?

0

The purpose for indicatiors in chemistry is to know what the approxment pH of a solution would be when it’s under going a chemical change. Indicators often change colors only in a small range on the pH scale. Be sure to chose the right one for your experiment other wise you may miss the equivelance point. For example, Phenolphthalein is colorless with a low pH. Once the pH gets between 8.3–10.0 it’ll start to change colors. Once the pH is high enough it’ll be a fuchsia color. Look up a list of pH indicators for a good and complete list.
