What is the punishment for conviction of possession of marijuana?
In Oregon, possession of less than one avoirdupois ounce of marijuana is decriminalized. That means that it is merely a violation and a person found guilty cannot be punished with jail time. Punishment for this violation is a fine of no less than $500 and not more than $1000. A person possessing any amount of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, may be guilty of a crime classified as a C misdemeanor which is punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a fine.
