The PRSTM-probe uses ion resin exchange technology to absorb all nutrient ions simultaneously from your soil sample in the same way a plant root would. The PRSTM probe measures the actual quantity of bioavailable nutrients (i.e., biologically meaningful) in soil as compared to an index of available nutrients. Conventional soil testing methods use chemicals to extract nutrients from the soil, which is an indirect estimate or index of the amount that may be plant available. In addition, the PRS™-probe works equally well in all soil types, so it is well suited to look for a standard measure of soil nutrient bioavailability in research networks spread across vast geographical areas.
