What is the provincial education requisition allowance for?
This allowance is used to offset tax losses resulting from assessment corrections and appeals during the year. The allowance applies only to school taxes, and is not additional revenue for the City. The Municipal Government Act requires that the additional allowance be shown separately on the tax notice. The allowance account is recorded separately from the tax revenue and any deficit or surplus in the account will be carried forward into the following year.
