What is the proper tack and attire for a schooling show?
1. A schooling show is not ‘recognized’ by USDF or USEF. Therefore, any scores you get at a schooling show will not count towards year end awards, all breed awards, or bronze/silver/gold medal qualification. As such, schooling shows are considerably less formal – you don’t need to braid or wear a coat. Also, schooling shows have some discretion as to which USDF rules they follow and which they don’t – however most choose to follow the USDF rule book. 2. There will be people at a schooling show that dress up in ‘proper’ horse show attire. You can also do that if you want. You do not have to. You can wear any color breeches and a nice polo shirt or jersey of conservative color. If you want to go about halfway between formal and informal, you can wear white or light breeches and a white shirt and just not wear a jacket or stock tie.
