What is the proper RD 50®/RD 30® installation method?
We can provide you with sketches showing 2 possible installation methods. One of these is installation in a normal window and the other is what is known as a speaker window. However, care must be taken without fail to ensure that the radiation protection on the wall side and the radiation shielding glass overlap to ensure total and complete protection against radiation. There should be no gaps without radiation protection, i.e. radiation shielding materials should not be butted up to each other “edge to edge”. The radiation shielding materials must always overlap. How can RD 50®/RD 30® be disposed of? There are two possible ways to dispose of RD 50/ RD 30: a) Any scrap can be taken to at a normal household waste disposal site. This can be done as the lead is a chemical component of the glass and cannot be leached out. b) The scrap can be collected and sold to a company that manufactures lead compounds.
