What is the proper etiquette for displaying the American flag on Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is a day to honor our veterans, living and deceased. As we honor them, we often display the flag they defended, in some cases with their lives. Here are some points on flag etiquette citizens should know when displaying “Old Glory.” • On Memorial Day, the flag should be displayed at half staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff. When displaying a flag a half staff, it should be raised to the top of the staff for just a moment, then lowered to the half staff position. • When carried in procession with other flags, the U.S. flag should be on the right as it is marched (often called the flag’s own right).
