What is the progress of the European Execution Standards?
EN 1090-2 – Execution of steel structures EN 1090-2 was published as a BS in December 2008. It specifies requirements for the execution of steel and steel-concrete composite structures designed to BS EN 1993 and BS EN 1994 respectively, in order to ensure adequate levels of mechanical resistance and stability, serviceability and durability. BSI is currently preparing a Published Document providing recommendations for the execution of steel bridges to BS EN 1090-2. Industry is preparing a model project specification for the execution of steelwork in bridge structures to BS EN 1090-2. Once these guidance documents are published, the Highways Agency will update the SHW to align with BS EN 1090-2 and the published guidance.
