Physical Therapists are health professionals and are regulated by the Regulated Health Professions Act. A license to practice physical therapy is required in all provinces and territories. Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland require that all applicants for licensure have passed the Physiotherapy Competence Examination, which includes both written and clinical components. Upon successful completion of the Physical Therapy program at The University of Toronto, graduates may apply to the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators to take this examination. We hold a six-year accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Canadian Physiotherapy Academic Programs (ACCPAP); the maximum award rating for master’s physical therapy education programs.
