What is the professional name for the position of JD in the Scrubs hospital?
I believe he is supposed to be an attending physician in internal medicine. Yes those positions exist in Canada. Now as to whether or not your day to day life as an attending, resident or intern in the internal medicine department would be like that of the Scrubs character JD, well probably not. Since they are the main characters they do not show them consulting with specialists very much, but in a lot of cases when they have a cancer patient in there, the patient is going to be referred to the Oncology wing, same thing goes for a patient with a cardiac issue and so on and so forth. For entertainment’s sake, they have them treating a wider variety of patients than they typically would just because it would get a little repetitve if they were to get people with the same issues over and over again.
