What is the process that an EMS System or Agency must go through to implement the 2009 NCCEP Patient Care Treatment Protocols?
EMS Systems or Agencies will follow the normal process to submit protocols to OEMS for approval. All submissions should go through the EMS System’s or Agency’s Regional Specialist. The Regional Specialist will work with the State EMS Medical Director to assure that all protocols, policies, and procedure documents are complete and approved. If an EMS System or Agency chooses to use the 2009 NCCEP Patient Care Treatment Protocols, Policies, and Procedures unchanged, all that is required is to provide a statement the following: • A statement from the EMS System or Agency Medical Director that the 2009 NCCEP Patient Care Protocols, Policies, and Procedures will be used unchanged. • The date the protocols will become effective • A list of the medications which will be carried/maintained by the EMS System or Agency • A list of the procedures which will be performed by the EMS System or Agency If an EMS System or Agency would like to change or add a Protocol to the existing 2009 NCCEP Patient
