What is the process of getting rid of grubs in my lawn?

The grubs have already done all the damage they are going to do late last summer and fall. Now they are just hanging around getting ready to turn into beetles. Killing them now won’t help your lawn if it’s already dead. If the grass just pulls up from the soil (the root system is weak or gone) you can use a dethatcher to get rid of the dead grass. Seed has a hard time getting started on dead grass–it does much better on the soil. Dethatch when the soil is crumbly–not wet but not dry either. Then put down new topsoil if your lawn needs it and then grass seed and a starter fertilizer. It’s best to do this in the spring because nature does a lot of the watering for you and the temps are more moderate for the new seedlings. At the end of June or early July you can put down a grub killer (Like Merit or Mach 2) and they will kill the grubs for this year before they can damage you new lawn. Fertilize with a lawn fertilizer about every 9-10 weeks and water if necessary. Once it’s established
