ClearPlay provides an API specification document for the ClearPlay feature. The interfaces in the API specification need to be supported/implemented by the DVD decoder chip. ClearPlay also provides compiled object code which functions in conjunction with the application programming interfaces detailed in the ClearPlay API specification. The primary parties who need to be involved are ClearPlay engineering and testing and the engineering and testing departments of the DVD playback chip provider. There may also be some engineering work with the product manufacturer to integrate the ClearPlay user interface with the existing DVD player user interface.
