What is the process for getting my divorce in Tennessee?
The basic procedure for a divorce based on irreconcilable differences: 1 – File a complaint (petition) for divorce with the court. 2 – Prepare and sign a Marital Dissolution Agreement or “MDA”. 3 – Prepare and sign a Permanent Parenting Plan if there are minor children and thesubsequent Child Support Worksheet. 4 – If there are minor children, attend the court mandated parenting course. 5 – Attend hearing to determine if the agreement is compliant with Tennessee Law orin some counties, file a Motion with a subsequent Order. 6 – If the paperwork is in order and the judge agrees with the parties, a Final DivorceDecree is issued.
