What is the process for getting a concealed handgun license?
To obtain a concealed handgun license (CHL), you must take a concealed handgun license course from a certified instructor. You will receive a certificate of training at the end of the course. Next, you must mail a completed application with a license fee to the DPS. We will provide an application packet at the beginning of class, as well as all necessary fingerprinting, passport photos and notarization. If you want to apply for your license through the DPS website before the class, you may do so. It is not required. Please check the requirements to make sure you’re eligible for a license.
