What is the process for completing the PhD degree?
Students undertaking work for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy should understand that this degree is awarded not for an accumulation of course credits only, but for superior attainment and accomplishment. The minimum course requirements are 48 credit hours (including transferred credits, if any) with a grade of B or better. While working on the course work, students are expected to prepare their own degree program proposal and choose their committee members. Once the coursework is completed and the program proposal is approved, a comprehensive exam will be given by the students committee members. This test is a comprehensive examination of the students field of study. It covers the students topic and course work and is a rigorous test of scholarly competence and knowledge.
