What is the process DPS will go through to select the educational program for the new campus?
In late January and early February three community meetings were held in GVR and Montbello to solicit input from residents about the future school. These community events build on a large base of community outreach work already completed dating back to 2005 as part of the high school design competition process. In late February, DPS issued a Request for Proposal seeking proposals from interested educational providers for the entire district. Proposals are due in mid April and decisions about the type of program(s) to be offered are expected in June from the Board of Education. One of the specific interests listed within the RFP was a desire by the district for high performance 6-12 models that will help DPS increase graduation rates and send more students on to some level of post-secondary training. Between April – June additional community meetings will be held to help inform residents about the options submitted for consideration by the district.
