CASA will be following the process prescribed in the legislation and is based on the relevant Australian Standards. For alcohol an initial screening test will be conduct and is a reading is recorded above the permitted level and second evidentiary test will be conducted a minimum of 20 minutes later. For other drugs an oral fluid sample will be taken and an on site screening test will be conducted. If there is an indication of the presence of any of the testable drugs on the screening test the donor’s sample will be split and sent to an approved laboratory for confirmation of both the presence and the permitted level of the testable drug.
