What is the process being utilized to develop the Inyo-Mono IRWMP?
Utilizing a grant from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, both a project manager and project assistant have been hired to work with a neutral facilitator provided by DWR to help with initial engagement of local, regional and state water managers and convening of meetings of interested parties. We are calling the first phase of planning for an integrated regional water management the “launch phase”. This phase includes: • Identifying and convening water resource stakeholders from across the region; • Identifying and finalizing geographic boundaries for the IRWMP; • Drafting and finalizing a memorandum of understanding for the IRWMP; and • Development of a Planning Grant Proposal to DWR enabling the IRWM Plan to be developed. The effort so far has produced agreement amongst participating parties that pursuing an IRWMP is worthwhile, development of outreach materials (including a website), establishment of a governance structure, coordination with neighboring regional efforts to clarify respe
