A. 6. The first step is for the person who is applying for an Annulment (the Petitioner) to approach their parish priest. After a brief discussion, the priest will refer the Petition to the priest, religious or lay person in the Diocese who is responsible for processing Annulments. That person is usually called a “Field Advocate” of the Tribunal.
