Once field work has started, the student should discuss any placement-related issues with their assigned field instructor. If the issue cannot be resolved, then the student should contact their assigned field liaison for assistance. Any decisions about whether or not a student should terminate their current placement and be placed at another field site must be made by the field liaison, the field instructor and the student together. If a change of placement is required, a Petition to Terminate a Field Placement Form must be completed and signed by the student, the field instructor, and the Field Educator/Field Liaison. Once the Office of Field Instruction receives the completed petition, the student and the Field Educator/Field Liaison can facilitate another field placement. Students sometimes request a change of placement for 1 term only. Fieldwork sites usually cannot accommodate students for only 1 term; nor are 1 term placements educationally sound or beneficial.
