What is the procedure for getting a building condemned?

A. The Building Inspector (336) 475-4253 goes out and views the property in Question. He then makes a determination based on City Ordinances that are in place as to the safety and structure of a building. If it is determined that the property qualifies for condemnation, a notice is sent to the property owner for option to make repairs or demolish. If the property owner does not respond or comply, the city may issue a contract to have the building demolished. A lien is then placed against the property for demolition charges incurred by the City.
