WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING TO TEACH A STUDENT-INSTRUCTED COURSE, PSY 398 (ALSO KNOWN AS STUDENT-INITIATED COURSE), IN THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT?
Written guidelines and forms may be obtained from the Administrative Coordinator in the Psychology Office (Stevenson 3092). Department policy encourages students to teach in areas in which they have expertise, and which are not represented in the Department’s regular curriculum. Students are discouraged from teaching classes that are already being taught by faculty. You need to have a faculty sponsor to teach such a course. As part of the application, you will be asked to draw up a syllabus. Undergraduate Student Instructed Courses (Psy 398) are offered only on a Credit/No Credit basis. In addition, you can earn units for teaching a Student Instructed Course.
