What is the problem with ebonics?
There are many people who consider the southern accent to be a sign of ignorance, as well. “Y’all” is simply an adaptation that solves the problem of not having a plural for “you” in modern English. In California it is “you guys,” some people say “yous,” and there are many other variations. The main problem with ebonics is that people all over the world who speak english can’t understand it. If someone who has a “southern” accent (which all vary from state to state) goes to New Zealand or Australia, everyone has no problem understanding each other. This is not the case with ebonics. As an American, I can say that I have heard British people with practically unintelligible English. They replace “th” with an “f” sound, as in, “Wuts wiff you.” The English accent is not actually correct if you compare the phonetics to the written word.
