What is the primary function of the Academic Senate?
The legislature identified 11 areas of the college over which the faculty would have substantial authority. They include such matters as curriculum, degree requirements, grading policies, etc. The college’s Academic Senate is the body wherein the authority is invested. In matters relating to these 11 items the local Boards are required to have agreements with local senates on how they will take into account the faculty’s professional opinions.
