What is the prevailing attitude at Deloitte toward women in leadership roles?
I have held several leadership roles at Deloitte. Deloitte has a long tradition of hiring competent women, so initially I felt the challenge I had to overcome was getting my colleagues to overlook my age, not my gender, and trust me as a leader. I am grateful for the talented female colleagues in my office who paved the way so that I am judged on my ability to do a job well and not on whether I’m wearing a dress or a tie. Of the nine Forensic and Dispute Services partners in the Deloitte FAS San Francisco office, four are women. Recently I had the opportunity to work with one of them, Kerry Francis. I admire her and believe her to be universally respected by her colleagues and our clients in her leadership role, because she always gives as much as she demands of others. She brings in valuable work and is professional in every setting. I look forward to one day joining her as a partner at Deloitte.
