Preparation for a virtual colonoscopy is much like preparation for a conventional colonoscopy in that the colon must be emptied using laxatives. Yet, in contrast to the conventional optical colonoscopy, the virtual screening only requires the slight insertion of a small rubber tip designed to fill the colon with carbon dioxide.
