What is the predictive value of SAT scores? Should they continue to be used in the admissions process?

SAT scores, along with secondary school grades, are helpful to college admissions officers in judging whether students are above a high academic threshold and have the basic ability to complete the academic program successfully. Thus, standardized test scores should continue to have a role in the admissions process. Their usefulness for other purposes is limited, however. High SAT scores correlate with some, but by no means all, “outcome” measures.
