What is the prayer of St Francis about?
The secondary message as found in the second portion of the prayer is about understanding that things perceived as negative may be necessary experiences in order to achieve a higher understanding of the positive (“it is in dying that we achieve Eternal Life”) and also that, essentially, nothing in life is free (“it is in giving that we receive”).
