The potential is fairly significant. Now that we know we can protect soldiers, no one wants to put them in harm’s way without the type of equipment necessary to protect their lives. The MRAP program is one of the first strong steps to doing that. The Cougar medium mine-protected vehicle and the Buffalo are demonstrations to people of what can be done and some of the branches of the armed forces have identified this program. The MRAP is not so much to replace the Humvee, but is designed to address a specific type of threat. It is designed to protect against blasts and people who are in a threat area have a much higher probability of safety in this type of vehicle.
