What is the position on vitamins and minerals in the EU?

0

There are currently no EU-wide controls for vitamins and minerals sold on their own or when added to foods, such as fortified cereals. Each member state applies its own rules. An EU directive on food supplements will become law in the UK by 31 July 2003. The Directive covers the composition (limited at present to the vitamins and minerals that can be included) and labelling of food supplements. It also establishes a framework for setting maximum levels for vitamins and minerals in food supplements.
