The population of Old Orchard Beach, Maine was 8,856 at the 2000 census. Located on the inner side of Saco Bay (Maine)Saco Bay on the Atlantic Ocean, the town is a popular summer beach destination, with an amusement park Palace Playland (including a large seaside ferris wheel). The downtown contains many tourist-oriented businesses, including clam shacks and t-shirt shops. A wooden pier on the beach contains many other tourist business, including a variety of souvenir shops.
