The population of Man, West Virginia was 770 at the 2000 census. Man is located at the mouth of Buffalo Creek Hollow, where in 1972 Buffalo Creek Flooda dam 15 miles into the hollow collapsed, all but destroying communities in its path, killing 125 people and estimated 4,000 homeless, it was the worst natural disaster to ever hit the state.
