Hillcrest Heights consists of single-family homes and duplex homes built mostly in the 1950s and 1960s. Adjacent to it is Iverson Mall, a midsize 2-level shopping mall opened in the 1960s which serves shoppers from Maryland communities as well as from the Anacostia section of Washington, D.C. Stations of the metrorail green line are nearby. Also nearby are the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland and further out, Andrews Air Force Base and the Capital Beltway.
