What is the ‘’popping’’ noise?

0

The “popping” or “cracking” noise associated with some forms of chiropractic adjustments does not come from the bones. It actually comes from a gaz exchange between the joint and the environment. When the chiropractic adjustment is performed, the ligamentous capsule surrounding the joint is stretched, and releases gaz that was in the joint. The noise may be surprising, especially in the cervical region (since the ears are nearer, it appears louder), but it is painless and safe.
