What is the policy on talking about Religion in China?
Members of the LDS Church (or any faith) should not proselytize or do anything like unto it (passing out literature, talking about church doctrine, etc.) to Chinese nationals. Doing so could harm BYU’s and the LDS church’s standing in China and create future problems. If people ask specific questions about church doctrine, you should let them know that you are bound not to talk about it because of prior agreements not to do so. If it is a question about the Word of Wisdom or other obvious lifestyle issue, you might simply answer that you behave certain ways because of religious belief, if it is appropriate. If you are not sure about anything in relation to this, ask discuss it with the director.
