What is the policy for city names on mileage signs?
The first line shows the next place on the route with a post office, the middle line (if any) shows the next most important place on the route, and the last line shows the “control city”. The control city is determined by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials for Interstate routes. On other routes, the control city is the county seat or most important place on the route.
