What is the point of filing an FDCPA lawsuit?
While filing a lawsuit is not going to undo the experiences you have had with the debt collector in question, it affords you the opportunity to be compensated for those negative experiences. Where you bring a successful lawsuit against a debt collector, you will be entitled to recover money for the damages you suffered plus an additional amount for statutory damages, (up to $1,000.00). The FDCPA also entitled you to recover your court costs and attorney’s fees from the debt collector.
