What is the Platinizing Kit (Orion 0105PK), and what is it used for?

Platinized electrodes are coated with platinum black to give a more effective surface area for conductivity measurements. This kit can be used to apply a fresh layer of platinum black to the surface of platinized electrodes when measurements become slow and erratic or when cell constant has shifted out of specification. The kit contains a platinizing vessel, solution, and fixture. The fixture has an 8 pin DIN connection and three settings 1, 3, or 10 mA and is powered by a replaceable 9V battery. (Orion 010010 contains only the platinizing vessel and solution.) Back to Top • Can I use the Salinity feature of an Orion conductivity meter to measure the salt content of my food product? No. Salinity is a measure of the total dissolved salts in a sample based on Copenhagen seawater or equivalent as the standard. The use of the sodium (Orion 8611) or chloride (Orion 9617) electrode in conjunction with an Orion pH/ISE meter is recommended for the measurement of salt content of food. For more
