What is the planning process required if the site is developed for the Islamic School of Canberra?
The current zoning does not permit the use of the land as a school. The Territory Plan would have to be varied from a Residential zone to a Community Facilities zone to permit a school to be developed on the site. The site was previously zoned Community Facility. All proposed developments, including the ISC are assessed by the ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA) in accordance with the Planning and Development Act 2007 and the Territory Plan.
