What is the PICC Charge or Federal Access Line Charge?

A. Under FCC rules, long distance companies must pay your local telephone company a fixed monthly per-line charge for use of their local loops or lines for multi-line businesses only. Long distance companies have opted to recover these costs by charging their customers directly. Our carrier, Global Crossing, will charge $3.75 per month for each business line after the first line. The FCC eliminated the PICC charge in July 2000 for residential and single line business customers only. You will see this charge on your bill as a PICC charge.
