What is the PHOBOS sslXpress?
The sslXpress is a network appliance that is placed in front of any web server tasked with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) transactions. The sslXpress offloads the web server from the heavy burden of encryption and decryption for each secure process. The sslXpress uses a powerful onboard processor and its own operating system and internal TCP stack to perform all secure transaction functions. The result is a dramatic increase in performance for overburdened e-Commerce servers. Why SSL? The processing of critical information during a secure transaction using the SSL protocol takes a heavy toll on a web server that greatly impairs its performance. The sslXpress alleviates this performance bottleneck by off-loading all SSL tasks from the web server and performing them on its own processor.
