What is the philosophy of Foot 2 Afrika?
Foot 2 Afrika was set up by two Tanzanian men, Emmason and Johnson.It was inspired as a result of their experiences while working for other agencies. They found, that within these organizations, volunteers were often disappointed by the high rates that they were charged to volunteer. Hence, Foot 2 Afrika was born. We disagree with the profit orientated nature of many companies within Tanzania who charge high rates to volunteer at local projects. Instead we take independentvolunteers from all over the world to work at the projects we are connected with, which include 7 orphanages,3 nursery schools, a secondary school and 4 women groups. Additionally we run a project at an orphanage in the town and are involved in setting up a clinic for victims of sexual violence at a local hospital. Volunteers either work directly at the projects we run or are placed in contact with worthwhile projects in the town.
