What is the philosophy behind Virtual Music?
We believe that composing and mixing music are an extension of the listening process, so they should be accessible to anyone who loves music. The process of composing involves trying out different possibilities, and evaluating them in a rapid fire, intuitive way that draws on your accumulated musical experience, tastes, and interests. The Sequer strengthens this intuitive process by providing instant playback of any changes you make to the music. The speed of the process is what makes it so powerful – the Sequer just about keeps up with the speed of your brain, which is very fast. So you can work really quickly. We’ve given demo workshops in which students who’ve never studied music before create fascinating short pieces in less than an hour. Each piece is different, and obviously reflects the interests and personality of the student.
