What is the permissions model in VirtualCenter?
VirtualCenter has four pre-defined roles, each of which corresponds with a different level of permissions. The most privileged role – VirtualCenter Administrators – can set access privileges for other users, and has permissions for all functionality across all virtual machines and hosts. The next role – Virtual Machine Administrator – has access to a subset of hosts and can perform all functionality within that subset, including virtual machine provisioning, VMotion and resource management. The third role – Virtual Machine User – can perform power operations on a virtual machine, access remote console and view performance graphs, but cannot create virtual machines, move virtual machines, or modify virtual machine shares. The final role – Read only User – can only view the reports and inventory but cannot perform operations.
