What Is The Perinatal Continuing Education Program?
In existence since 1984, the Oklahoma Perinatal Continuing Education Program (PCEP) provides doctors, nurses and other health care providers across the state with valuable knowledge they use while caring for Oklahoma’s most valuable resource, our children. The term perinatal means the time surrounding a baby’s birth. It includes the pregnancy and the first days of a child’s life. The Perinatal Continuing Education Program Core Components: • Manual skills and cognitive knowledge • Multi-disciplinary, multi-specialty participation • Self-instructional materials, broad perinatal content • Self-assessment of perinatal care goals, resources, and care routines • Continuing education credits for participants – maximum of 51 for physicians, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives and physicians assistants; 83.5 contact hours* for nurses and respiratory therapists • Varied study tracks available based on area of practice of each participant.
