Don’t tell anyone where you got this. This recipe was handed down from my grandmother and always elicits the same response. “This is the best chocolate cake I ever ate”! TENIE’S CHOCOLATE CAKE 1/2 C Butter 1 C Brown Sugar (Light) 1 C White Sugar 2 Large Eggs 3 Squares Bakers Unsweetened Chocolate (Melted) 2 1/2 C Cake Flour 1 C Buttermilk 1 C Sour Cream 1 tsp. Vanilla 2 tsp. (Scant) Baking Soda Cream Butter and Sugars. Add Eggs, one at a time. Add Melted and cooled chocolate. Alternate the flour with the buttermilk and sour cream to which 2 tsp. of baking soda have been added to the last 1/3 of the cup of sour cream. Add Vanilla. Bake in 9×13 pan at 325 degrees for 50-60 minutes. Test with toothpick. ICING 2 Squares Baker’s Unsweetened Chocolate (Melted) 6 Tbs Butter (Melted) 3 ½ to 4 Cups Powdered Sugar ½ tsp Vanilla Mix all ingredients together until creamy. Frost after cake is cooled.
