What is the per diem allowance for meals?
All legislators get the same $153 per diem allowance for each day the legislature is in session (generally four days a week). The per diem is supposed to cover hotel rooms, meals and any other living expenses they have. This is a non-accountable per diem. Lawmakers do not file expense reports on it. There is no separate per diem allowance for meals.
