What is the pathophysiology of hydrocephalus?

0

Spinal fluid is produced in the choroid plexus of the lateral ventricles surrounded by the brain. This fluid bathes the brain and spinal cord but it have to find a way out through many foramen. Hydrocephalus is caused by any machine that blocks the fluid from getting out of the brain. It will eventually build up inside the ventricles, and cause the brain to expand. Examples could be hindrance by cancer, congenital malformations of the brain, infections, overproduction of CSF, and many times it is idiopathic (unknown).
